See and Do in La Conner

The 2012 Northwest EconoRun will be May 4, 5 & 6 in La Conner, Washington, the heart of Skagit Valley and the most beautiful village on the Puget Sound.

On Friday evening EconoRun participants are invited to an Ice Cream Social just a 15-minute drive from the hotel. The Hammatt’s 2,000 sq. ft. garage will be the venue. 16593 McLean Rd., Mount Vernon WA at the Hammatt’s (360-661-6060). Check out a 1914 Overland, a 1914 Cadillac, a 1930’s Cadillac LaSalle, and more! Hey, and there is ice cream too!!

After that ice cream, some of us will want to hop back to La Conner that evening for a Big Band Concert. The Skagit Community Band will be playing Sinatra, some Blues, besides the Big Band favorites. See if you can spot the Corvair owner in the band! It begins at 7:30 at Maple Hall in LaConner. The cost of admission is only $10.

Also, Opening Day for the boating community is on Saturday, the 5th, with a boat parade starting at 3 p.m. on the channel in front of La Conner. So this is a perfect way to relax after the EconoRun drive on Saturday!

The Garden Day Art Festival in La Conner takes place on May 4 & 5, 2012. So for garden-lovers, the storefronts will be “gardens of art”. Civic Garden Club will have a delightful show of flora and fauna art, garden plants and artist’s demonstrations. Welcome spring! Hours are Friday and Saturday, 11-4 pm.
